What the hell is AmorExplore?

Contrary to what some friends assumed, AmorExplore is not a swinger’s site. AmorExplore is a ‘lil’ corner of the internet dedicated to uncovering the stories that emerge where history, nature, and adventure collide. Often this means following the path less travelled and always with a sense of curiosity and stoke.

For millennia, humans have ventured to Earth’s remote corners by any means. At these far reaches, where risks can be great and stakes high, the essence of human experience like courage, remembrance, understanding and devotion come to the fore.

At AmorExplore, we shine a light on these stories through exploration, research, and connection.

These stories merit further prominence but don’t always tie up nicely in our SEO, algorithmic media these days. AmorExplore was created to bring these stories to light through exploration, research, and connection.

Who runs this outfit?

I’m Kirsten Amor, a keen writer and former archaeologist. After graduating with an Ancient History and Archaeology degree I spent several years working freelance in the field. My work took me to some amazing destinations in the Middle East and the UK.

A series of snapshots from my time working as an archaeologist. A series of snapshots from my time working as an archaeologist. A series of snapshots from my time working as an archaeologist.

Some snapshots from the trenches and soil heaps.

Throughout my trips, I would blog about our travels or findings. I was so excited to experience these places I wanted to share them with others. During this time I also gained a postgrad qualification in journalism to better share these stories.

These days I’ve swapped a trowel for a helmet and harness, and will frequently be found caving, climbing, kayaking, SUP-boarding, hiking, and more. These sports have taken me to some unforgettable, off-the-beaten-track destinations around the world that I want to share with you.
